Cleansing is the step people either skip or overdo, and both mistakes show. Too little, and makeup sits in pores overnight. Too much, and the skin barrier gives up - which produces exactly the tightness and irritation the extra washing was meant to fix. Faberlic's cleansing section is broad enough to build a routine that avoids both.

The formats, and what each is for

  • Gels - light, rinse-off, best for oily and combination skin
  • Foams and mousses - gentler than gels, comfortable for normal skin
  • Cleansing milks - no-foam textures that suit dry and sensitive skin, and remove makeup well
  • Micellar water - no-rinse removal, useful as a first step
  • Scrubs and exfoliants - occasional use, not daily
  • Toners - the step after cleansing, to settle skin before cream

A routine that works

Morning needs very little. For most people a gentle gel or foam is enough, and for dry skin plain water is a defensible choice - the face has only been on a pillow.

Evening is where cleansing matters. If you wear makeup or sunscreen, one pass rarely removes it. The reliable approach is two steps: micellar water or a cleansing milk to lift the makeup, then a gel or foam to clean the skin underneath. This is both more thorough and less aggressive than scrubbing once with something strong.

Exfoliants are the easiest product to overuse. Once or twice a week is plenty; beyond that you are removing skin that was doing a job. If your face stings when you apply cream afterwards, you have exfoliated too much or too often.

Signs you have the wrong cleanser

  • Skin feels tight and squeaky immediately after washing - the cleanser is too stripping
  • Makeup is still coming off on a cotton pad after two passes - you need a dedicated remover step
  • Persistent redness around the nose and cheeks - reduce frequency and switch to a milk

Formulations and the current cleansing line-up are published in the Faberlic catalogue. Persistent skin problems are worth discussing with a dermatologist rather than solving by trial and error. Consultants order skincare at up to 26 percent off.
