Being straight about this is more useful than being encouraging.
What skincare can do
- Improve hydration, so fine lines look less pronounced
- Improve texture and smoothness
- Support the barrier, so skin is more comfortable and resilient
- Prevent further damage — this is the big one
What it cannot do
- Reverse structural change: volume loss, deep folds, skin laxity
- Rebuild collagen to a degree visible in a mirror
- Replace sun protection
- Deliver anything in days
Any product promising reversal is overpromising, regardless of brand. The honest framing is slowing and improving, not undoing.
The two steps that outperform everything
1. Daily sun protection. Most visible ageing is accumulated UV exposure. Nothing else in a routine comes close, and this remains true at every age.
2. A retinoid, introduced slowly. The best-evidenced over-the-counter ingredient for texture and fine lines. Faberlic has a retinol direction alongside the oxygen line; introduce it at twice a week and build over a month.
Everything else, including the moisturiser, is supporting work. Worthwhile supporting work — but secondary.
Where the oxygen range fits
As the hydration and comfort layer, which is a real job. Well-hydrated skin looks visibly better, fine lines are less obvious, and makeup sits properly.
Within the range, the age-focused products are grouped by decade. Treat those bands as a starting point rather than a rule — what actually changes with time is how quickly skin recovers moisture, and that varies enormously between people.
A realistic routine
Morning: gentle cleanse → moisturiser → sunscreen.
Evening: remove and cleanse → retinoid, building up slowly → richer moisturiser.
Do not add several new actives at once. Irritated skin looks older, not younger, and that is the most common self-inflicted setback.
Timeline
Hydration and comfort: two to four weeks. Texture: two to three months. Fine lines with a retinoid: six months to a year.
Anyone offering faster is describing temporary plumping from hydration, which any moisturiser provides.
For introducing a retinoid safely, see the skincare section, and for the range the reviews section.
