Account settings are the least interesting part of starting, and getting three of them right in the first week prevents most of the problems people run into later.
Contact details
The most important setting in the account, because it is what password recovery depends on.
If the email or phone attached to your account is one you no longer check — an old work address, a number you have changed — fix it now. Discovering it is wrong at the moment you are locked out turns a two-minute reset into a support case.
Use an address you will still have in five years. Personal, not work.
Delivery address
Worth setting properly before your first order rather than during it. Two things people get wrong:
- Incomplete addresses. Anything a courier might need — building entrance, floor, access codes — belongs in the address, not in your head
- A default that is not where you actually are. If you order to two places, make sure the default is the more common one, because it is the one that will be used when you order in a hurry
Notifications
Worth a minute of thought rather than leaving whatever the default is.
The genuinely useful ones are order status updates. Everything else is optional, and turning off what you will not read is better than developing the habit of ignoring all of it — because the one you eventually need to see will be ignored too.
What not to worry about yet
The account contains settings that only matter once you have an organisation. Leave them alone. Adjusting things you do not yet understand is a good way to create a problem that did not exist.
Why there are no screenshots here
The interface differs between the website and the mobile app, varies by country, and changes over time. A guide naming specific menus would be wrong within months, and following outdated instructions is worse than following none.
For where a particular setting lives right now, Faberlic's own site and help materials are the reliable source — and the only one that matches your country's version.
The one-minute version
Check that your email and phone are current, set a complete delivery address, and leave everything else alone until you have a reason to change it.
For the rest of what the account is for, see the business section.
