Faberlic's fragrance section covers women's and men's ranges across the usual families, and it rotates with the catalogue roughly every three weeks. That is a lot to face without a method.

The method below narrows it before you look at a single bottle.

Step 1: decide the family

This eliminates most of the catalogue immediately. If you already own a fragrance you love, find out its family — that is the strongest signal you have.

If you do not:

  • Fresh and clean → citrus, aquatic, light floral
  • Warm and cosy → oriental, gourmand, woody
  • Green and cool → green, chypre, fresh fougère
  • Soft and quiet → musk, powdery
  • Bold and memorable → leather, oud, heavy oriental

Step 2: decide the concentration

Eau de toilette — lighter, daytime, reapply through the day.

Eau de parfum — denser, longer, better for evening and cold weather.

Not a quality difference. A strength difference.

Step 3: decide the season

Heat amplifies fragrance; cold suppresses it. A warm oriental bought in December will sit unused from May. If you are buying one fragrance, buy for the season you are actually in.

Step 4: read the notes in the catalogue

The Faberlic catalogue lists the note structure for each fragrance — top, heart and base. That is the authoritative description, and it is the right place to read it rather than any second-hand summary.

Reading notes tells you roughly what the first hour and the last will smell like, which is most of what you need before testing.

Step 5: test properly

  • On skin, never on paper
  • One at a time
  • Wait thirty minutes minimum
  • Wear it a full day before deciding

Skin chemistry genuinely changes how a fragrance develops, which is why a recommendation is a starting point rather than an answer.

A practical suggestion

Start with something in the middle of the range: a light floral, a fresh citrus-woody, or a soft musk. These are the least likely to be disliked, and they teach you what you actually respond to — which makes the second purchase much better informed than the first.

Registered consultants buy the fragrance range at a personal discount of up to 26 percent, which makes trying a second one considerably less painful.

For the individual families in detail, see the perfume section.
