Children's skin is thinner than adult skin, loses moisture faster, and has a barrier that is still developing. Products made for children are formulated more simply — fewer actives, milder cleansing agents — rather than being the same thing in brighter packaging.

What the range covers

  • Bathing — foams, gels and soaps formulated for frequent use
  • Hair care — mild shampoos, including low-sting formulas for younger children
  • Skin care — face and body creams, and products for weather-exposed skin
  • Oral care — toothpastes in age-appropriate formulations
  • Seasonal — protective products for cold or sunny conditions

The line-up rotates with the catalogue every few weeks; the Faberlic catalogue has current products and full compositions.

The rules that do most of the work

Buy by age band. The bands exist because requirements genuinely differ between a toddler and a ten-year-old.

Fewer washes, not stronger products. Daily soaping dries children's skin far more than any product corrects. Plain water is often enough.

Introduce one product at a time. If something reacts, you need to know which.

Patch test anything new, particularly for a child with a history of eczema or allergies.

Plain is better. Heavy fragrance and strong colour offer nothing a child's skin needs, and fragrance is the most common cosmetic irritant.

Sun protection

The most important product in this category by a wide margin. Childhood sun exposure contributes disproportionately to lifetime skin damage, and sunburn in childhood is specifically associated with higher risk later.

High protection, applied generously, reapplied — plus shade and clothing, which do more than any cream.

When it stops being a cosmetic question

This is the part worth taking seriously:

  • Persistent rashes
  • Weeping, crusted or cracked patches
  • Eczema flares
  • Any reaction that spreads
  • Anything on broken skin

These are medical. A paediatrician or dermatologist decides what goes on that skin, not a catalogue — and working through gentle products while a condition worsens is a common and avoidable mistake.

Cosmetic products are for ordinary, healthy skin.

The practical summary

Age-appropriate, simple, unfragranced, used sparingly, with sun protection as the priority. Everything else is optional.
