If your false lashes lift at the outer corner, the cause is almost never the glue brand. It is that the band went on while the glue was still wet. Waiting for it to go tacky is the single technique that separates a clean application from an obvious one.
Two prep steps most people skip
Trim to fit. Hold the band against your lash line and see where it ends. Nearly every strip is two to four millimetres longer than an average eye. Cut from the outer end, where the hairs are longest, so the shape survives the trim. The band should start about 2 mm in from the inner corner, not at it.
Bend the band. Wrap it into a horseshoe between your fingers and flex it several times. A stiff, straight band cannot follow the curve of the lid, and it will lift.
Application
- Curl your own lashes and apply one coat of mascara before you start.
- Run a thin line of glue along the band, slightly heavier at both ends.
- Wait 30 seconds. The glue should turn clear and tacky rather than white and runny. This is the whole trick.
- Tilt your chin down and look into the mirror with your gaze lowered — the lid is exposed and you can see the entire lash line.
- Set the middle of the band down first, closer to the lash roots than feels natural. Then press the inner corner, then the outer.
- Nudge the band in tight against your own lashes with tweezers or fingertips.
- After a minute, squeeze your natural lashes and the band together at the base so they read as one row.
A fine line of pencil or liner over the seam hides the band completely. Do it last.
Removal
Never pull a dry band. Soak a cotton bud in micellar water or a bi-phase remover, run it along the seam, and give it twenty to thirty seconds. Then peel from the outer corner inward, holding the lid steady with your other hand.
Peel the dried glue off the band afterwards with tweezers rather than washing it — done this way, a decent pair survives ten to fifteen wears.
Quick diagnosis
- Outer corner lifting — band untrimmed or unbent.
- Visible band — applied too high above the lash roots.
- Stinging — glue applied before it went tacky.
- Look feels heavy — choose a band with uneven, varied lengths rather than a dense uniform one for daytime.
